Ashanti in studio with dr dre and the game, wow she's keeping it gangsta!!

Picture of Ashanti on her latest project- Extreme makeover home edition courtesy of wooha.com
Source:Tweet photo

Wow what am I doing staying up till nearly 4 when I know too well that I have to be doing work tomorrow? -sigh- Anyway Ashanti has finally come onto U-stream . Ashanti was one of my idols growing up if not for her singing then her goofy, wacky personality that's my girl for real!!!

Ashanti is currently working on a new album and by the sounds of it, it is going to be dope. In her U-stream video she speaks about working with some people from London, hmm sounds interesting. And also promotes an episode of extreme makeover she shot recently. She is also rocking a new hairstyle. Peep the video below at 15.00 she sings a snippet of one of her songs paradise.

I have just got to say that watching Ashanti really cheers me up. I love how she is not just a cardboard copy artist with no personality. She has been through so much and is still smiling:). Growing up I have always tried to hide my wacky/goofy nature but watching her always helped me to see the beauty of showing your personality.

Watch my girl shani struggle with using U-stream, and talk about her current projects.

Wow Gordon Brown you better watch out

Source: Times online, Google images

North Korean official Pak Nam Gi, the former finance director of the ruling workers, was shot by a firing squad due to messing up the economy. Wow Gordon Brown the way that people are blaming you for the recession you better be glad that we are not in North Korea!!

South Korea Ship sinks after explosion

Today a South Korean navy ship sank, with many missing and several reported dead after a 'supposed' explosion. Seoul, the largest city of the republic of Korea denounced allegations that the ship was sunk by a North Korean torpedo. The government are currently investigating.

Pyongyang the capital of North Korea have yet to reply, however if they are discovered to be involved in this attack, this will cause serious hostility with the South. Furthermore it will cause tension between the US and South.

Sitting in my seminar for the international system opened my mind to what Bush was really doing when he declared a war on terrorism. If this present case is proven to be true then it is an example of terrorism happening outside Iraq. Bush, was trying to make one state or one area (the Middle East) solely responsible for terrorism when frankly terrorism happens everywhere, it is beyond the state. How foolish people where to believe him and how even more foolish people where to allow the US to look for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq; when currently the US are signing a new treaty on nuclear arms control with Russia, tut tut.

Jourdan Dunn's boyfriend arrested for drug possession, she struts the runway regardless

As you know I featured Jourdan Dunn as one of my boss girlies a couple of weeks ago.Well last month her boyfriend Jordan cummings, who she had a child with in December, was arrested for possesion of two ounces of cocain with intent to supply and has been sentenced to three and a half years in jail. Regardless of the adversity that faces her she ripped the runway at a charity show in London, this was her second fashionshow since she's been pregnant and the first since her boyfriends arrest. Thats what makes her a boss girlie!!!

Problems for US healthcare bill

Source:whithouse.gov
We all thought that Obama's corner stone healthcare bill had been passed in order to FINALLY provide healthcare insurance to 32 million people in America. This would bring down healthcare costs and allow American citizens to have greater power in regard to their health. Unfortunately the bill has to be returned to the US House of Representatives for a new vote over procedural measures, due to Republicans endeavours to sabotage the bill. The changes to legislation will be about the student loan program and technical budget procedures.

Luckily Democrats managed to contest against any ammendments made by the Republicans which would seriously weaken the health care legislation.

Despite these issues the fact that this bill has been passed shows that you can achieve anything no matter how ambitious it is.

We are so lucky to have a free healthcare system in England. If you don't appreciate this you need to watch the movie John Q starring Denzel washington conveying the harsh realities of the US health care system.

Its a good watch peep the flick here.

What is it about married men and affairs?

We all know about Tiger woods and his numerous affairs, Cheryl Cole and her split with Ashely Cole, Vernon kay's secret text messages under his wife's Tess Daley's nose and now there's another one!!! Mathew knowles has been confirmed as the father of a baby boy after allegedly having an 18 month affair.

Married men having affairs is an old age issue, which brings the question to mind. Is promiscuity naturally in all Men's nature? Is putting a ring on it not enough?

From my perspective I do believe that when you marry, you have to be with the right person and I do mean the right person. Looks should not be the main factor although many men are visually stimulated, looks wear off and in the end you only have the person standing next to you to live the rest of your life with, it seems that this is something most people seem to grasp too late into their marriage. Is your love deep enough? I personally think that you need to find the person your with amazing, exciting and enthralling and I'm not just talking about the first 6 months, this I believe is what will truly sustain the marriage. Time is also key there is no rush, work on yourself and your insecurities; a lot of people's love are based on insecurities within themselves. Although it is good to depend on your partner, do not become too dependent, you are both adults, and you both need to think for yourself. Lastly do not let your emotions get the best of your common sense, are you compatible?

Admittedly I do think people cheat in marriage due to boredom and look for something new, exciting and different. However they fail to end their marriage as they also want the reassurance of their wife at home. Unfortunately you cannot have your cake and eat it too.Cheating is like an addiction, once you've tried it, it'll be easy to do it again and again and again, as they say once a cheater always a cheater.

Quote of the day

For everything there is a season,And a time for every matter under heaven:A time to be born, and a time to die;A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;A time to kill, and a time to heal;A time to break down, and a time to build up;A time to weep, and a time to laugh;A time to mourn, and a time to dance;A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;A time to seek, and a time to lose;A time to keep, and a time to throw away;A time to tear, and a time to sew;A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;A time to love, and a time to hate,A time for war, and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Even if you are not religious for everything there is a season and for every emotion there is a reason xxxxx

Bringing back the baggies and crops

When It comes to fashion I really couldn't care less about whats in or whats not. Its about what I personally think is hot :). And I am, feeling the cute tomboy look, I'm talking about those baggy AAliyah style jeans. I love cropped tops as well, yes, cropped jackets, cropped jumpers, cropped everything. If you don't feel like baring your stomach rocking a strappy top underneath always makes it very stylish.
You can get cropped tops from Topshop, New look, Miss Selfridges, asos and dr jays.com. As well as many other clothes stores.
You can buy baggy jeans aka boyfriend jeans at very.co.uk, and probably top shop, and dorothy perkins too.
A perfect combination would be a cropped top and baggy jeans for the summer.

Obama working on relations with Iran

President Obama in a broadcast on the Internet today stated that he Will provide sufficient entry to the Internet for Iranians without censorship. Despite difficulties with the Iranian government he promised to provide a better future for the Iranians future. However the state claimed that this message was intended to cause tension between the Iranian people.Well as they say Rome wasn't built in a day,it will be interesting to see if Obama's claims at the inauguration to 'extend a hand' to opposing states will enable them to 'unclench their fists.'

Priests abuse in Ireland

You cannot deny that christianity has been largely undermined by its own people who 'claim' to be christians. Pope Benedict XVI made an apology to children who were the subjects of sexual exploitation by Catholic priests in Ireland. This was done through a pastoral letter, which was the first of its kind in the Pope's jurisdiction, despite allegations of pedophilia in Catholic churches for many years. The pope acknowledged that there had been a 'serious mistake.'(Well that is one way to describe it). Catholic priests have been reported abusing children in countries such as Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria and the US.

Some groups are not satisfied with the Pope's letter of apology, which stated that not enough attention was given to the cover up of child abuse by the Pope's jurisdiction. This was noted by BBC Religious Affairs correspondent Robert Pigott and also Maeve Lewis, executive director of One in Four.

Rihanna exorcism experience and Beyonce and Alicia put it in a love song live

Images courtsey of thisrnb.com

Ok so I really didn't want to make this blog an entertainment one. But it seems that I'm coming up with stories that I really wouldn't class as 'news'. So im doing another section for entertainment. (after all I have to cater to many audiences) But still expect the lastest news stories to know whats really happening in the world we are living in, not just entertainment. Right now I have an essay to write on the sovereignty of the European Union (got to continue with the hustle). But I'll leave you with a funny video of Rihanna talking about experiencing an exorcism. And Alicia Keys and Beyonce live at The Garden put it in a love song.(sorry about the quality of video.)

Quote of the day

Today my quote of the day is based on relationships

Sometimes you have to get to know someone really well to realize you're really strangers. ~Mary Tyler Moore

Knowing the person who you're with is key!!

Peace xxxxxxxx

Because they think they can tell you better...

There has been an outburst of relationship books in the black celebrity world, in the past year.

The ones which particularly caught my attention was Steve Harvey's (an American actor, comedian, entertainer, and radio personality) book 'Act Like a Lady Think Like A Man'. This book guides women on how to have a successful relationship, notably talking about the 90 day rule before having sex. To come to this figure Steve Harvey gave the analogy of working at Ford in which you have to wait 90 days in order to receive benefits. He did note that waiting till you were married would be better but he had not seen anyone that could yet do that.(ahem). He also claimed in order for women to attract men they had to look' shiny', not fake shiny, to all the ladies that are running out to get the biggest pair of bling earrings or false nails. I did find his particular view to be implicitly sexist as he suggested that a women always has to keep herself together to hold attraction. (Personally I would like a guy who would find me shiny in my pyjamas and head gear yup, yup.)

Next in line is Tv relationship expert Dr Michelle Callahan, she stopped by 106 n Park last month. Promoting her new book 'Ms typed' which guides a women on how to get a man. This book teaches women to get a man by taking a what's your type quiz, inspirational stories from other women and a 'Ms typed makeover'. On 106 n Park she expressed the importance of both sexes dating several people, to find out their type.

Another book, is Karrine Steffans ' The Vixen Manual : How to find, Seduce & Keep the Man you want.' Karrine Steffans book contains graphic diagrams, which were contested by the american program CW, in one of the many altercations Karrine has had with radio and TV personalities. Karrine notes that she has found the secret to keeping a man, through her own challenges as a woman and listening to elderly women around her. This book guides a women through being single into marriage and notes that in order to get a good man, the women also has to bring something to the table. She further claims that a man will treat a women how she allows him to treat her and also noted the preference of courtship. This is slightly undermined however by her recent split with her boyfriend/husband who knows?? Actor Darius McCrary.

All I've got to say is what happened to just being yourself??? And why are there many guides for women, what about the men????Some of the advice given in these books can be of value. However never forget the importance of being yourself, who wants to date another cardboard cut out? Respect is essential and before you go into any relationship make sure you have respect for yourself and the partner has respect for you. Im going to talk more about this in the future as it gets on my nerves. For now I have to sleep so I'll bless you with interviews from these three, enjoy:).

Diary of a Female Hustler

Female Hustler [fee-male huss-ler](n)- a female who works her butt off to try and make it despite all adversity

I have decided to add a new feature to my blog, a diary of a female hustler i.e. moi :P.On a more serious note this feature is for any ambitious person (Male or female) who has a strong desire to be who they want to be and won't stop until they achieve it.

I feel there are a lack of stories out there for the average person on the street trying to do what they want in life. Whether that be a single mum struggling to provide food for her kids. Or a guy working their butt off at Asda who has no qualifications but knows that they are destined for more.

You will follow me on my endeavours to try and make it, the ups and also the downs. At the moment I'm at uni doing a degree in Law and international studies. My passion is writing and I would love to be a journalist and one day publish a poetry book of all the poems that I have written, and branch out into spoken word poetry.I further have a strong desire to help people and believe the struggles that I have been through, were given to me for a reason: to assist others. I don't know exactly what the title for that job is yet :P but I know it will work itself out soon.

What do you want to be? I guarantee If you have the hustlers mentality you'll make it!!

Fear

Fear is one of the biggest obstacles in life and it needs to be overcome. What are you so afraid of? Becoming a target? Failing? Embarrassment? Humiliation? Being lonely? The most successful people have had to overcome the hardest obstacles in order to be where they are today. Never take a setback as a failure, in order to have a setback you must have gotten somewhere in the first place. If you've done it before you can do it again, ten times over, believe!

We are all human beings, nobody was born superior to another. Yes some of us are gifted with talents, but the amazing thing is we all have the capacity to learn. You can be who you want to be but be prepared for the struggle that comes with it. Don't be afraid to take risks, and definitely do not let fear stop you.It is merely negative thinking, yes past experiences can inhibit us, but we need to get over it. Fear is irrational and usually built on insecurity. What is your insecurity? Identify it and conquer it!!!Never ever let people build fear inside you. You were born alone, you will die alone and at the end of the day, it is you who is accountable for your own life.

Hope this helps
Peace xxxx

The Government are not accepting that 'age aint nothing but a number'

The Government are not planning to move the age range for criminal liability up to 12 years old any time soon, at least that is one thing the labour government can gain points for in their looming election.

Despite the England children's commissioner, Maggie Atkinson stating that children under the age of 12 did not know what they were doing which I strongly beg to differ. She further noted that it was wrong for Jon Venables when he was 10 to be tried in an adult court instead of a youth court. Although I do believe that a 10 year old being tried in the same court as a 20 year old has its problems, namely the obvious fact that a 10 year old and 20 year olds' mentality are worlds apart.

However from personal experience I do feel that a 10 year old knows exactly what they are doing, dare I say even younger. Obviously children do know the difference between right and wrong otherwise we would have many kids running around as axe murderers.Maybe if the issue is on a 10 year old stealing sweets I can sympathise with Dr Atkinson's point but murder is a different story all together. We were all kids before remember? Never underestimate a child's mentality. I just feel sorry for European countries that have their age range for criminal liability between 14-16.

International women's day

source- google images

Earlier this week on the 8th March was International women's day. This is a day that praises women's social, political and economic accomplishments around the world. The first one took place in 1911 and is recognised in some countries as a holiday. Many campaigns used this day as an opportunity to raise awareness for pregnant women dieing in developing countries. The UN further noted that there was little improvement in pregnant women's mortality rates in countries such as Sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia.

New videos - N-dubz say that its over

N-dubz are getting paid!!! Which is evident from their new video in which they adopt a more futuristic vibe, this reminds me of a cross between Lloyds video of girls all around the world and The Dream - Walking on the moon. It appears that N-dubz are swerving more towards the dance side of music, I personally preferred their older songs.

First Time Voters Question Time BBC3

I really enjoyed watching first time voters question time, hosted by Dermot O Leary on BBC 3 and believe it did a good job of engaging young people into politics. I think this is something that is needed and should be a regular feature on BBC 3. One thing I really noticed about the politicians that were present on the panel was that they're focus was more on scoring cheap points against each other and promoting their particular parties rather than directly answering the question. This is something I also noticed on the regular question time too and in some ways to me felt very reminiscent of childish school antics. Someone that really spoke to me was Tim campbell, the winner of apprentice, he was very direct, straight to the point and honest and he is sure to get many more fans out of this I know I am already one.
If you haven't already seen it catch it on BBC I-player.

Quote of the day

This is from a scripture in the bible that was given to me. If you meditate on this you are sure to succeed.

Luke 10:19 'I have given you power to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall hurt you'

Jumpsuits

I've always been feeling jumpsuits but a good one always seems hard to come by. They are perfect for people who really struggle to find what to wear. They can be worn during the day or can be jazzed up on a night out with accessories and heels. You can find good jumpsuits on internet sites such as drjays.com, asos.com or boohoo.com.

Dereon's new season collection 2010

Dereon seems to be stepping its game up with its new seasons collection. I absolutely love the outfits in the adverts. You can get Dereon at dr jays.com.

New videos - Teairra Mari Sponsor

Remember Teairra Mari the de throned princess of the Roc? Well she's back and with vengenance. Brushing off her pain and struggle from being dropped by her record company, she's back on the scene with her best song yet Sponsor featuring Soulja boy and Gucci man. Gucci man is apparently not in the video because he's in prison for a year due to breaching the terms of his parole. Seems as if it will be a long time before he's able to sponsor anyone. :P

New videos - Gaga and Beyonce telephone

Gaga was trying to take a leaf out of Michael Jacksons book with this 9min 30 second video it seems that artists are getting inspiration from Michael to start creating epic music videos another one was seen by black eyed peas with the 10min 21 seconds video imma be rocking that body. Gaga and Beyonce (with no one being upstaged this time) were let lose on the streets in a modern day rendition of Thelma and Lousise, a touch of kill bill and a splash of Gaga's quirky fashion.

And did you all spot Tyrese??? Yep he was the one poisoned by Bee's dangerous honey. To be honest I thought the video didn't really go with the song, it took too long to start, I didn't understand why they were dressed as witches at the end and Beyonce's acting also made me cringe. However this video is definitely going to be one of the most talked about and is sure to pave the way for setting up Lady Gaga as a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

And you thought precious was bad

Recently in the media there has been a lot of backlash about the film Precious giving the black community an unsavoury image.Monique, who plays the tyrannical yet pitiful mother in the film rightfully claimed that the situations portrayed in this were devoid of colour. This is evident in a recently appalling case where a white father from sheffield raped his two daughters over a 1000 times, which resulted in them becoming pregnant 18 times over the space of 30 years. He is quickly being dubbed the British Fritz closely resembling Josef Fritzl,an Austrian father who kept his daughter in a basement and raped her regularly, he too also happened to be white.Instead of wasting time stigmatising a particular race we need to realise that incestuous rape is a serious issue in our society. Precious raised that awareness which was a good thing.
